Anomie is a work commissioned by Bahareh Ahmadi for solo piano and electronics. We had discussed working on a project together for a long time, especially something which could be easily transported and played anywhere, even without an experienced technician. Around this time I was listening, analyzing and reading a lot about the great composer Hans Tutschku. In many talks he discussed the idea of pragmatism in mixed music which inspired me. Therefore, the piece is designed to work with two easy speakers inside the piano, an app that works on iPad (or computer) and a MIDI pedal. The title anomie is taken from Durkheim and means a state in which a society gives little moral guidance to its inhabitants.
